Yesterday, I had a few hours with nothing, and I mean NOTHING, I had to be doing. Any parents out there, single ones in particular, will understand how rare that is. On top of that, the weather was perfect. Sunny, warm, light breeze, I was in a tank top....
So I did what every reasonable woman would do. I got Indian food for lunch. I picked up some Toffifay. And, of course, I want to my local bead shop, Crystal Bead Bazaar. What? Wouldn't you? I went in looking for some iolite maybe, and something blue. I was maybe looking for something to use in the upcoming joint project between me and Simbelmyne. Not that I have any ideas for that beyond our discussion on Friday.
Did I find something blue? Yes. Did I find a lovely bit of citrine that I liked quite a bit. Then I found this:
The tag says it's tourmalinated quartz. The term tourmalinated refers to the occlusions in the stones, those black lines. I've always had a fondness for the stuff, it goes from beads with only one little line to ones that are almost black with thick blades running through them. They have a strength to them somehow.
Despite the green strand blowing my entire budget for the day, despite my having no plan for it, I couldn't walk out without it. It's mine now, in all it's delightful grass green power. Now it's staring at me. I'm just going to have to stare back until I have something perfect to do with it. But I'm pretty damn sure I'm picking the best two stones for a pair of earrings.
Just for me!
