There we be, mine buddy AR and I at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival in Morelandshire (Westmoreland county).
We combined forces to build a booth and everything!
Needless to say, we're having a ball. It's like no other art or craft festival I've ever been to. We don our garb and play the role of artisans and merchants. Hawking in front of the booth is expected and necessary. And I'm usually pretty shy about talking to the people passing by, but I'm not terrible at shouting about how delightful the stones and metal are as long as people are amused.
I've met so many delightful people, maybe you are one of them! (I love comments, say hi!)
The costumes are amazing. A friend made up a dress for me that's totally fun, but I can't wear it every single day. I love pretending to be a lady merchant. I'm finding myself checking out everyone's garb and planning to purchase or make many more things. And planning visits to other renaissance festivals. Road Trips!
Also, I'm getting all sorts of inspiration. I want to make crowns and jeweled hair nets and Elizabethan necklaces and chains, harem bracelets, big stone rings, everything. I'm hoping it will never end.
So, if you make it to the Shire, follow the mini-battles past the Toy Shoppe towards the Kids Kingdom and the Blacksmith's shop and you'll find us.
See you there!
